Water is the source of all beauty. Water gives life and resilience to your skin, creating the contours of your lips and chin.
Smoothing wrinkles and folds or giving your mouth a fuller, more sensuous form requires no foreign element. Restylane and Perlane products give shape with the body's own natural material called hyaluronic acid. It binds water in your skin, to lift and give new firmness.

In the Restylane line of products, stabilized hyaluronic acid, in the form of a crystal-clear gel, smoothes wrinkles and folds or gives contour.
Hyaluronic acid is one of very few substances that is identical in all species and tissue types. Thus, it can be used in many medical applications. Restylane products restore youthful resilience to your skin by simply adding to your natural supply.
Restylane's hyaluronic acid is unique. NASHA, or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid, is the first stable, biodegradable, non-animal hyaluronic acid available and is produced under carefully controlled conditions.
After injection, the gel binds water and generally remains for many months. Non-stabilized hyaluronic acid products, by comparison, last only a few days or several weeks at most.
As a totally non-animal product, there is no risk of transmitting disease or eliciting allergic reaction in patients who are sensitive to common foods, such as beef, chicken and eggs.
One of the great advantages of the Restylane product range is that it is long-lasting but not permanent.
How long a treatment holds its effect is very individual. This depends on many factors, such as your age, skin type, lifestyle and muscle activity, as well as the injection technique.
Restylane's gel particles are absorbed so slowly that you have ample time for maintenance treatments. As the gel breaks down, water takes its place. The less concentrated the gel becomes, the more water it is able to bind. These facts are the main reasons Restylane treatments last so long. When totally absorbed the gel disappears unnoticed from the body.
Most patients choose to have a follow-up treatment six to twelve months after an initial treatment of wrinkles or facial contouring. After lip treatments, a follow-up is normally needed after about six months.
After the treatment some common injection-related reactions may occur, such as swelling, redness, pain, itching, discoloration and tenderness at the implant site. These typically resolve spontaneously within one to two days after injection into the skin and within a week after injection into the lips.
EVOLENCE™ is based on collagen, which throughout two decades of use has maintained an excellent safety record as an injectable beauty treatment.
EVOLENCE™ is a natural product and due to the Glymatrix™ technology it is able to mimic the properties of the natural collagen found in the skin. Therefore, while an allergic reaction is theoretically possible, it is extremely rare. Pre-testing is not a prerequisite to treatment with EVOLENCE™. Patients with a history of hypersensitivity, particularly known allergies to collagen, should consult their doctor.

The use of EVOLENCE™ during pregnancy or breast-feeding has not been tested, and is therefore not recommended.
During the first few days after treatment, exposure to extremes of temperature or to strong sunlight should be avoided to reduce the risk of inflammation.
Before treatment the injection site is prepared with an anaesthetic cream to minimise discomfort and pain. EVOLENCE™ is then introduced via a fine needle just below the skin surfacethe implant is slowly injected under the wrinkle as the needle is withdrawn. The treatment should only take between 30 and 60 minutes and the results are visible immediately.
Collagen has been used in medicine for over a century, and has been in common use as an injectable cosmetic material for more than two decades.
However, the major disadvantage of collagen-based fillers is limited longevity; maintenance of results usually requires repeat injections 2 to 3 times per year.
With its patented Glymatrix™ technology, EVOLENCE™ has set a new standard for the longevity of collagen treatments, with an effect lasting at least 12 months.

Juvderm is hyaluronic acid in the form of a colourless gel which is injected into facial tissue. It softens fine lines and wrinkles, restoring lost volume to the skin. HA, or hyaluronic acid/cross-linked hyaluronic acid is a naturally-occurring complex sugar found in most tissues of the human body. HA is lost from the skin over time as a result of internal factors such as age and sex, and external factors such as temperature and sun exposure. "Cross-linking" is a process in which individual chains of hyaluronic acid are bound together. Cross-linking of the HA results in greater stability of the product, resulting in a longer-lasting effect.
Juvderm is injected directly into the skin. The process takes approximately 30 minutes. Some discomfort may occur during and following the injection, but such discomfort is not long-lasting. As with any dermal filler, temporary redness, pain/tenderness, swelling, bruising, itching and minor lumps/bumps may occur.
Results are immediate. You will see an improvement in the treatment areas right away. The results last 6 months or more. Supplemental "touch-up" treatments may be required to achieve and maintain optimal results.
Aretesense™ combines PMMA (a proven and safe biocompatible substance that has been used for decades in artificial limbs and pacemakers) with a small amount of collagen, a vital skin protein that decreases with aging. During a period of approximately 2 to 3 months the implant stimulates your body to produce new collagen and connective tissue which binds to the PMMA. Results achieved with Artesense™ have been shown to last as long as 10 years - in some cases even longer.

Artesense™ can be used to
Artesense™ has been used safely in Canada for nearly 10 years. More than 400,000 patients worldwide have been safely treated.
The injections are usually found to be painless. In some situations, more than one treatment may be needed. As with any injectable implant, you may experience swelling, redness, lumps/bumps, bruising or itching following the treatment, but these symptoms typically subside in a few days. Pain relievers and cold compresses can be used to alleviate pain or discomfort, however, ASA (asprin) should be avoided as it may cause an increase in bruising.
At first, the implant may feel hard, but it will soften over time. It may take up to three months for the full effect of the implant to be visible. A few weeks after treatment, it is not unusual for wrinkles to temporarily reappear. This is normal and they will disappear again.
Sculptra™ represents a unique new treatment in non-invasive cosmetic procedures in Canada. Sculptra™ is a synthetic injectable material known as poly-L-lactic acid, which is derived from the alpha-hydroxy family of fruit acids. Unlike traditional injectable fillers that fill lines, Sculptra™ helps lift, smooth and firm up your skin gradually because it stimulates the production of your own collagen. Although the results are not instant, visible differences appear naturally and progressively after each treatment session, and can last up to two years.
Sculptra™ offers the broadest range of injection sites. This allows Dr. Tarshis is literally "sculpt" your face by restoring its natural contours and smoothing out wrinkles, creases and folds.
Sculptra™ may be ideal for helping correct deep folds and wrinkles, scars, lost volume in the face, volume defects and contour irregularities.

The number of treatment sessions you require will depend on various factors such as your age, how deep your wrinkles are and the areas you wish to treat. Generally Sculptra™ is injected in three treatment sessions over a two-to-three month period (at four-to-six week intervals). During this time, unwanted deep lines and wrinkles gradually diminish as the skin firms up as a result of production of your own collagen.
You should know that much of the initial injected volume will disappear after the first week as Sculptra™ is absorbed and your swelling subsides. This can make your original depressions reappear, but should gradually improve within several weeks as the treatment of Sculptra™ continues.
